Every year the clinic handles over 100,000 outpatient and over 5,000 inpatients cases. The highest-level of service is supported by both its impressive infrastructure and unique medical team. The clinic's stellar staff includes such internationally recognized experts as professors Kiwit, Millarowitch, Reichardt and Glass.
The hematology center, headed by Berthram Glass, employs the most advanced leukosis therapy methods. Every year the clinic successfully performs more than 200 immune therapy and bone marrow transplantation procedures. The Cancer center, headed by Peter Reichardt, has the most advanced equipment for such procedures as intraoperative electron radiation therapy (IOERT), hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) and thermal ablation.
Helios Berlin-Buch recovery rates for most pediatric and adult specialties have been consistently above the national averages. In 2018, it had 0% mortality after major pulmonary and bronchial tumor removal surgeries. In 2011, its doctors saved a baby born at the 24th week of gestation, that weighed only 400 grams. They stabilized its condition, even though it was born with small intestine damage.
History
The clinic was founded at the beginning of the XIX century and quickly became known for advanced therapy techniques, breadth of research activities, and high quality standards. Many famous clinicians and researchers worked and conducted their studies at the clinic. After the WWII, the clinic became the largest medical center in East Germany. So, it comes as no surprise, that it was chosen as a private hospital for party members and defense and law enforcement agencies. In the early 2000s, the clinic was fully renovated, and as a result, new modern medical buildings and a helicopter pad were constructed.

Traditional and high-level chemical therapy – injection of anti-cancer chemical agents into blood vessels feeding a tumor.
Monoclonal immunotherapy – introduction of antibodies that bind to cancer cell antigenes. They help kill tumors with toxins or block growth factors.
Targeted therapy – highly precise therapy that does not affect healthy tissues.
Beam therapy – destroying tumors with ionizing radiation.
Autogenic and allogenic stem-cell transplantation – introduction of donated or patient’s own blood-forming cells.
Services
In 2007, the clinic moved to a new building designed to comfortably host 1,000 patients. It offers large contemporary minimalist-design rooms with plenty of light and fresh air that help patients feel good and stay well. The clinic also has a barber shop, a pharmacy, a small convenience shop, and a cafeteria offering regional meals. Every week the clinic holds a book fair. International patients have access to several additional services, such us TV in their language and customized menus that speed up recovery.
