Helios Park Leipzig is a large medical and research center affiliated with the Leipzig University, located in the south-eastern part of town. A unique combination of practical experience and research resources gives patients access to the newest medical technologies: the hospital runs 30 international clinical studies annually, mostly in the field of oncology.

Helios Leipzig treats more than 45,000 outpatients and almost 15,000 inpatients annually. It employs 190 physicians, 380 medical care professionals, 39 psychologists, and 29 occupational therapists.

Its predecessor, the Dösen psychiatric Hospital, was founded in 1901. Its experience contributed to the creation of strong psychiatry and psychotherapy departments.

The intestine and pancreas' centers of the visceral oncology department have been certified by the German Cancer Society and are held in high respect.

The orthopedic trauma center is a successor to the Georg Sacke orthopedic and rehabilitation clinic that was created by merging two hospitals serving children and adults. Every year, it operates more than 4,500 patients and places 1,200 modern prostheses.

Park Clinic's survival rates are above the German national averages. For example, in 2018 more than 96.2% of heart failure patients recovered successfully.

Achievements

  • The radiology department received accreditation from the German Society for Radiology and Minimally Invasive Therapy (DeGIR).

  • The Prostate Cancer Center, the Visceral Oncology Center and the Intestinal Center of the clinic are certified by the German Cancer Society (DKG) and adhere to quality management system criteria (ISO 9001).

  • The Geriatric Trauma Center has received accreditation from the German Society for Trauma Surgery (DGU).

  • Biliary tract endoscopy: a diagnostic procedure that measures the patency of bile ducts and pancreatic ducts.

  • Excision of damaged colon tissue: removing the damaged area of the colon while saving as much healthy tissue as possible.

  • Osteosynthesis and removal of osteosynthesis products: treatment of bone fractures and bone damage by introducing internal fixators.

  • Synovial membrane arthroscopy: minimally invasive surgery of the synovial joint capsule lining, where nerve endings, lymphatic vessels and blood vessels are located.

  • Arthroscopy: minimally invasive surgery used to treat joint problems.

History

In 1901, the Dösen Hospital, predecessor of the modern Park Clinic, was founded near Leipzig. 

Created initially as a psychiatric hospital, over the years the clinic expanded its scope: after the World War II it added the internal medicine and surgery, and later -- orthopedic and oncology departments. 

In 2012, the clinic added a dependency treatment center and in 2014, it has joined the Helios network.

Services

The clinic is located in a green neighborhood with many parks and lakes. The clinic offers customized food choices, including kosher, halal, vegan and vegetarian menus It also has an ATM, a coffee shop, a gift and flower shop, and everything else you may need. This includes publications and books in several languages.
