History
The Kaplan Medical Center opened in 1953. It was named after Eliezer Kaplan, a well-known Zionist and a leading figure of the working-class movement at the time. The hospital building was designed by Zeev Rechter, a famous Israeli architect. The hospital complex initially consisted of 5 medical buildings and 6 maintenance facilities. Later, new buildings were added.

The clinic is accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI), an independent organization that monitors quality of healthcare around the world. JCI assesses healthcare safety, treatment methods and procedures, technical equipment and staff training of medical institutions worldwide.

Arthroscopy: endoscopic joint surgery, during which a tool called an arthroscope is inserted into a joint through several small cuts.

Percutaneous Nephrolithotripsy: minimally invasive surgery, during which kidney stones are broken apart with a laser.
Laser Photo-Vaporization of the Prostate (PVP): removal of excess prostate tissue using a laser. This procedure does not damage healthy tissues and takes up to 90 minutes under general anesthesia.
Virtual Coronary Angiography: a diagnostic procedure that provides a detailed 3D image of the inside and the outside of the heart vessels with the aid of a 64-spiral tomograph.
Location
The hospital is located in Rehovot, Israel, 20 km away from Tel Aviv. The city is famous for its mix of modern and historic buildings. Patients can find some peace and quiet in one of the city's parks. They can also visit the Ayalon Institute, a museum where visitors can learn about Israeli history. After the tour of the museum, visitors can walk among the old eucalyptus trees. There are many other places to visit in Rehovot, such as the house-museum of Chaim Weizmann (the first president of Israel), and the Rehovot Science Park.
It takes about 90 minutes by public transport and 30 minutes by car to reach the clinic from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
