More about the clinic

Bogenhausen has been certified by all major German medical associations, including the German Cardiac Society, German Society for Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine, German Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, and many others. The clinic is home to four interdisciplinary centers certified by the German Cancer Society. These are the Intestinal cancer center, the Pancreatic cancer center, the Neuro-oncology center, and the Esophageal cancer center.

The clinic has and actively uses high-tech medical devices. More than one hundred surgeries have been performed using the da Vinci robot-assisted system, the best robotic surgery system on the market. Its 3D imaging functionality helps remove tumors with a high degree of accuracy without making large incisions. This makes surgical interventions much less invasive than traditional open surgery procedures.

The clinic is acclaimed for its achievements in treating elderly cardiac patients. For example, it has successfully performed a TAVI procedure (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) on a 102-year old female patient. This has become a world record. TAVI enables surgeons to replace the aortic heart valve that is often narrowed in older patients. The clinic performs TAVI approximately 150 times every year. The most recent TAVI procedure, number 1,000, was performed on a 93-year old patient.
