Data based on feedback from patients treated here
Harley Street Clinic forms part of HCA Healthcare Group. This group includes top clinics with numerous awards for their healthcare services. Patients choose Harley Street Clinic for its innovative treatment methods, the highest level of medical care, as well as the clinic's security and privacy. It is one of London's largest private hospitals that provides medical care for patients of all ages. The clinic's specialists perform the most complicated procedures, such as neurosurgery, cancer surgery and heart surgery.
Over 1,000 people are employed at the clinic, including 300 doctors, surgeons and medical consultants. World-renowned Paediatric Oncology Consultant Stergios Zacharoulis is available for consultations at the clinic. The hospital prioritizes top-level care: one nurse attends to no more than four patients. At regular clinics, one nurse usually attends to 10-15 patients. Besides, the hospital employs 13 specialists in clinical care for patients with certain conditions, such as breast cancer, bladder incontinence, diabetes, infectious diseases, colorectal cancer and many others.
More about the clinic
The hospital has 4 operating areas, 3 catheter labs, 6 treatment rooms, an independent intensive care unit that can accommodate 9 adults, 13 children and 5 patients of any age at the same time. The clinic also has a inpatient care zone with 103 hospital beds.
The Harley Street Clinic uses state-of-the-art equipment to diagnose and treat all kinds of diseases. It was the first clinic in the UK to use the CyberKnife radio-surgery device to operate on a patient with a heart condition that was considered inoperable. Specialists of the clinic's Cardiology Department use Dual Energy CT scanners that can provide detailed visualization of the heart. The Neurology Department uses ROSA and Visualase robotized systems. The hospital also offers Gamma Knife therapy for treatment of cancer, trigeminal neuralgia and other diseases. The Gamma Knife technology is the gold standard in radio-surgery, which helps irradiate an exact area accurate to a millimeter. This helps avoid damage to healthy tissue.
History
Dr Thomas Frist founded HCA (Hospital Corporation of America) in 1968, with a vision of creating a healthcare company with the highest possible standard of care. The company expanded rapidly, and by the late 80s, it included over 349 hospitals. In the 1990s, HCA began construction of a network of modern hospitals in the UK, including the Harley Street Clinic. HCA clinics have all the latest equipment, which is being updated constantly.
To this day, HCA is one of the largest healthcare companies in the world. It owns hundreds of clinics in the USA and dozens of hospitals in the UK.
The most effective surgeries and procedures
Capsule endoscopy: this procedure helps get the exact visualization of the gastrointestinal tract, including an area of the small intestine that cannot be accessed during a regular colonoscopy, gastroscopy or an ultrasound examination.
Radiotherapy: treatment of cancerous or, in some cases, benign tumors with ionizing radiation.
Colonoscopy with the use of Medtronic's equipment, which applies AI technologies to detect colorectal polyps in real time.
Genetic testing: an analysis of 207 gene mutations, which can estimate the risk of practically all types of hereditary cancer.
Stem cell transplantation: this procedure is offered for patients with serious blood and bone marrow diseases.
Endoprosthesis of the hip joint: replacement of the damaged hip joint with an artificial one.
The CaRi-Heart cardiac examination: a revolutionary technology that assesses the risk of a serious heart condition or heart attack many years before anything happens.
