University Hospital Tübingen is a full-service hospital affiliated with the University of Tübengen that was founded in the 15th century. It is one of the totals of 34 university hospitals in Germany. Close cooperation of researchers and practitioners at the university level, and clinic's cooperation with four federally sponsored medical research centers result in a productive fusion of medical practice, research, and academic programs.

University Hospital Tübingen treats more than 74,000 inpatients and almost 384,000 outpatients annually. The clinic has 1,500 beds and more than 10,000 medical professionals, including 1,000 highly qualified physicians. They work at 17 departments, 41 sections, and 21 interdisciplinary centers that are well known throughout Germany and beyond.
The Tübingen ENT clinic is one of the oldest European clinics that treats ear, throat and nose diseases, and performs head and neck trauma surgeries.
The clinic is home to the Tübingen-Stuttgart cancer, one of the 13 highest rated cancer centers in Germany. Its strategy, based on an interdisciplinary approach, is crucial to successful cancer treatment. The 15 specialty departments of the clinic closely cooperate with each other when diagnosing and treating cancer patients. Every week they hold 18 cancer conferences, during which physician working in a variety of specialty fields discuss their patients on an individual basis.
The stem cell transplantation and cell therapy center has been certified by JACIE, the highest European certification authority for medical centers in this field. Since 2019, it has been using an innovative CAR-T therapy that consists of extracting and modifying lymphocytes for subsequent re-injection to attack malignant tumors.
In 2009, the Prostate Cancer Center was certified by the German Cancer Society. This is one of the leading urologic oncology centers in Germany.
The clinic's neurology center has been co-founded by the Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research (HIH). Close interaction of HIH researchers and clinicians is truly unique. Tight integration of HIH with the neurology clinic resulted in the creation of a multi-functional institution that integrates clinical brain studies with the practice of medicine and training of young professionals.

History of the clinic
University Hospital Tübingen was established in 1805 by Johann Hermann Heinrich Ferdinand Autenrieth, one of Germany's best physicians of the first half of the 19th century, a renowned professor of Anatomy and Physiology. The hospital was first located in a historic building constructed in the 15th century. In 1846, the clinic's surgery and general medicine departments moved to a new building on Silcherstrasse.
The clinic has actively expanded up until the Second World War. This process continues even now. In 2010, University Hospital Tübingen opened the first Center for Treatment and Research of Rare Diseases in Germany.
The most successful surgeries and procedures
- Autologous and allogeneic transplant: transplantation of the patient's own or donated stem cells. This procedure is available even for senior patients.
- Radiotherapy: treatment of cancer with ionizing radiation.
- CAR-T therapy: a treatment method during which the patient's own cells are used to destroy leukemia cells.
Services
Patients can stay in comfortable rooms with a private bathroom. Each guest is provided with personal hygiene items. There is a fridge, a TV and Wi-Fi in the room. Each wing has a lounge area and a cafe. The clinic regularly provides entertainment for its patients. Visitors can stay in a guest house on the territory of the clinic.

Location
Tübingen is a historic university town in the center of Baden-Württemberg, a state in southwest Germany. It is popular with tourists for its historic buildings and local cuisine. A third of the town's population are students. The Faculty of Medicine of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen is considered one of the best in the country.
The hospital campus covers a large area from the city center to its northern districts. It takes about 25 minutes by car and about an hour by public transport to reach the clinic from Stuttgart Airport.
