Friedrichshain, a multidisciplinary medical center, has the newest equipment that makes it capable of providing both adult and pediatric care 24/7. In 2017, it has added a new upscaled medical facility.

Being part of the Vivantes network of ten clinics, the clinic relies on experts from its other nine clinics to provide the necessary medical services. The group has 150 specialized departments and more than 40 research centers specialized in various fields of medicine.One of its focus area is obstetrics; it delivers 3,500 babies every year. Its perinatal center has everything necessary to take care of premature and ill infants.In addition to the perinatal center, the clinic has a department of pediatric and adolescent medicine. Children's gastroenterology is one of the its main fields. Its experts treat stomach aches and other gastrointestinal disorders in young patients. It also specializes in pediatric urology. Expert physicians, in cooperation with pediatricians and pediatric urologists, take care of their patients from infancy to adolescence.

History of the clinic

Vivantes Clinic Friedrichshain is the first city hospital in Berlin, built in the 1870s. The clinic began admitting patients in 1874. The clinic was later visited by German Emperor William I.

The hospital buildings were an example of late modern architecture with neo-Gothic and neo-Renaissance elements, however, many of them were destroyed during WWII. After WWII, reconstruction works began at the clinic. Vivantes Clinic Friedrichshain is protected by the state as part of the German architectural heritage.

Location

The clinic is situated in central Berlin, in the Friedrichshain district. The district has many shops, cafes, restaurants and popular tourist spots. There is a small park right behind the clinic's main building.

The Landsberger Allee metro station is a short walk away from the clinic. It takes about 10 minutes to reach the center of Berlin from there. It takes about 40 minutes by car or by public transport to reach the clinic from Berlin Airport.
